Poached egg plant on my allotment is covered with my girls all day. They only need to wake up and roll out of bed and they are on it.

Just standing near the hives today (too windy to open), I see bees coming back completely covered with orange pollen. Similar colour as dandelion, but the bee is completely covered. From couple meters away you see orange ball coming. Any idea what it is?

as above, Bramble is just about to pop with the odd flower out already. Are we a little early this year?

No don’t think so, perfectly normal to see some at the end of this month. Main flush is normally mid June though but there’s normally some still going for about 4 weeks after. Ian

I can imagine that is true in Surrey. Here in Warks, in a normally cold valley on the edge of the Cotswolds, we also have the first bramble, and I think that's early for us. Is that the end of the June gap?

(OSR was 3 weeks early - starting and ending - this year. I took 2 supers of OSR from one hive on 4 May.)

What's flowering in my area?- Nothing! Early June gap here the bees are not impressed.
Ground is very dry too we really need some rain here or the main flow is going to fail. Bramble is just starting to flower so hopefully there may be some sort of flow on soon.

No brambles here yet but the harwthorne is still flowering well here.
There's probably not much in the flowers though as it's so dry..
I've moved colonys from the valley up here 2 weeks ago to try and take advantage of the later spring forage.
I'll find out on the weekend if it's worked.
