Purple loostrife is looking stunning in the hedgerows, as always. Not sure if the ladies go for it. The bumles love it.

Fusia still has at least a month of flowering, even on a dull wet morning in today I saw a few bees working it

None today...it was dampish, but yesterday the was bumblebees etc., but no obvious honeybees. I'm at loss to see what it's been sown for, as it's on a farm which mainly rears pigs.
Maybe they’re branching out into organic flour? Very trendy right now.

Balsam in full flower down by the river here!
Are they on it, Eric? I've not seen a silver back at any hive yet. I was feeding some small nucs yesterday in the rain and they were all still busy, a fair amount of light green pollen going in, also saw the first wasp sniffing around.

Unfortunately the river where it grows in abundance is out of flying range for mine. I get the odd ghost bee from small patches they find but most of the rivers here are cleared regularly to stop flooding.

Balsam . Rose bay and other willow herbs , golden rod and white clover . Plus a host of forage , delayed by a cold long spring followed by a mini drought .

Walked up on the moor to enjoy the purple haze and get a photo for my new heather honey label. Saw several honeybees as well as lovely bumblebees and moths on the heather. Could smell the nectar. Getting a strong waft of the amber gel every time I open up a hive this week 😊

Thanks all that’s useful! The bottom 2 have a famous local landmark that locals will recognise, reinforcing the provenance (& price!) of the honey. Was thinking need a big sky for the description to stand out.
