Looking through some of my photos and came accrosss this .
Can anyone tell me what it is?
Its not rude or pornagraphic I can assure you.

There has been 42 members who have viewed this photo and not one dare say what they think.
Right it is a Taste sensillae in a worker bee on the labial palp on the mouth parts of the proboscis.

OK OK I promise not to display any more suggestive photos as the members do not seem to know what there looking at.

Nearly finished my book Bee Genetics and breeding by Thomas E. Rinderer and if i had doubts about breeding genetically modified bees then this has really put me off. IN no way is it possible to breed every trait that we would like in our bees. We would have to start with the Alleles which we could not alter. OH well back to the drawing board.

Mo - maybe make it a multiple choice 'cos people don't like to stick their necks out. It's a lovely book that one. Could have been (a) antenna (b) mandible (c) foot etc. :)

I've just ordered Rinderer's book to have a look at it - IIRC it was praised for its content but lacking in finesse in the translation...?

Bcrazy, when you said labial palp, it only seemed to reinforce my visual first conclusion.

Hadn't a clue I'm afraid, I do think that for such deep stuff, a few clues might not go amiss. if only to save the embarrassing silences. :)

Hi Hombre

I am very dissapointed in you not knowing where the labial palp is.

Oh well!!
