Sigh . . .

Yes, I obviously based my opinion on the follower boards
I have no idea how you can possibly think it is something else,

Have you looked through the other pics he has posted on F-B?
You would see these;

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155156329838071&set=g.10587174796&type=1&theater&ifg=1

Only ever shows one colony in the big boxes.

Also looks like he's quite extensively into queen rearing?
Perhaps that's the drive behind this?

Take a look at this too;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFAEnQKkvlc

showing a single swarm being put between 2 dividers.

The hive types' idea is that hive is handy to handle.
What big idea is to tie 2 frames together!!!

No, I didn’t look at other photos. For the nth time, I talked about the hive Millet enquired about. The nature of follower boards is that you can use them to expand a colony or divide it. In the hive in the photos to which Millet linked the boards are used to divide the hive in three. End of story.

So you're deriving your opinion without considering all the available data?

End of story.

In your opinion.

the boards are used to divide the hive in three.

But have you considered that;

Millets photos only ever show an empty box and never how bees are contained within it?

Dividing the "Available Hive Space" does not necessarily mean dividing a colony?

I have no idea how you can possibly think it is something else

No,
I don't suppose that you do.:svengo:

MartinL this was being discussed prior to Millet adding the link, which I asked for. As you admit the beekeeper appears to be heavily into queen rearing, the long brood boxes were originally designed with that in mind, whether there is evidence of a colony or not. The entrances would have been designed to hold 3 colonies in each brood box, so that makes 6. He was inspired to add the upper brood box to convert it into a long deep horizontal hive. In essence both you and Mellifera Crofter are correct, as this was originally viewed as an empty box. Your latest video does not show the exact same box. Now for another view a horizontal hive with an intention of holding 3 colonies using 15 frames. But only using 10 to 12 frames. https://forum.honeyflow.com/t/double-deep-long-lang-hive/12418

.
What do you say about that: Vertical horizontal hive.
