I use a router from Homebase, bought for £10 (delivered) from Ebay.. It is slow , and it requires two passes to cut anything substantial. And an Aldi router table - £30 reduced to £20..

It's only 500 watts so saves on electricity :)

Pargyle is extravagant....

:icon_204-2::icon_204-2::icon_204-2: My family tell everyone I'm PIKEY so that's a real compliment !!

I would agree though ... some of the motors are BIG most of them at least half horsepower and the planer thicknesser is 3/4 HP .. but, apart from the lathe they don't run continuously ...

Bought a table saw to make those hive parts I can.......

Made an apiary trolley, designed and built in two hours when the boss was out :sifone:

Sounds just the job RW have you any piccy's??

If I had to bin all my tools and keep one it would be my table saw I would keep.
Worth every penny and will save you a fortune. don't forget to read the safety instructions and use a pair of safety goggles

Any recommendations for table saws?

Any recommendations for table saws?

If you google it there is a fair bit of info on them basically from what I've read those in the £0 - £299 are all pretty much of a muchness those at £300-£600 you get better repeatability for each cut pass you make and those above £600 are Cmrcl pro grade.

This is it basically as far as I can tell. if you look on Ebay and gumtree there are bargains to be had but choose wisely young Jedi and watch your fingers they show no mercy.

Power tools or hand tools as well?

Depends, of course, on your basic feedstock - planks or PSE.

A router can be used in place of a saw, planer, chisel and likely a few others. A truly universal tool.

Pictures as promised, I gave it a test up and down the back lane and nothing broke but will have to modify the foot at the front (bad design)

I have in mind to convert an old wheelbarrow to a flat bed. Only 1 wheel to push through the grass and large fat tyre.

Tim.

Looks really good. I see from ML website a similar one is over £400! Clearly a business opportunity there.

My efforts at converting a stock warehouse truck , by beefing up and extending the axle to take golf trolley wheels (handy over rough grassland . Fabricated a box that clips on to stabilise hive/supers and Bob's your uncle

That front fixed leg would prove problematical if you caught it on a bump or the trolley dipped at the front .... but, I can see that it would be very useful for providing a stable platform for loading up ... so, perhaps you need to substitute the fixed leg for one that is hinged so that it's up when you are travelling but can be kicked down when you need it to be used as a stand.

Perhaps one of those spring loaded bicycle stands would do it .... or a scrap motorbike stand ?

Nice bit of design though ... very creative !

The front leg does swing around and there is a stop where it is stowed but it wobbles, good idea of a motorbike stand I was thinking of a little gas strut pushing it against a stop.
