will a hunting horn work?

Was up there earlier on - still there, probably a wee bit of shelter over them as well.
It's pississtenly rained here all day but there has been a steady and not insubstantial throng of bees going to the balsam and coming back absolutely plastered in pollen - the draw must be strong. What it's going to be like tomorrow when the sun comes out is anybody's guess!

Watching the bees working an EPIC balsam flow, shame this nice weather only looks to be a 1 day wonder up here,a week of this would see each hive add a full super no problem.

Order restored!

Going away for 2.5 weeks on a stunning forecast and strongest flow of the year. Really difficult knowing how much space to leave, but brood boxes stuffed with honey are not the worst thing I suppose (currently 2,1,1 deeps on production hives).

Elsewhere, order restored as robbing has stopped and suspect hives have produced laying queens. Subject to inevitable robbing losses while I am away (or at least, i am intellectually if not emotionally prepared for them), I am taking into winter four colonies ready to produce next year, and plenty of backup nucs. Phew and fingers crossed.

Think the balsam flow has hit us here with the great weather today - both hives going bananas apparently. Time yet for big hive to complete the part filled super prior to the ivy flowering...

Nice day today. Removed all supers.

As did I, been a decent year for me - blackberry came just right with the weather. No Balsam nearby so that's it until ivy.

White ladies are busy today!
Collected seeds from my borage plant...thank you bees for pollenating them for me...you shall have more next year. Collected herbs for drying. Since there won't be enough honey for crimble presents this year...again....it will have to be packets of herbs. My kitchen is fragrant with bay, thyme, sage, rosemary and lavender.
Just waiting for OH to get his act together ....sorting out the battery for vaping. First he wrecks my charger...now seemingly my battery has no charge....hmmmm.

Saw a Hornet Mimic Hoverfly buzzing round the hive today. Made me jump. Didn't realise how big they were...2cmc approx.:icon_204-2:

It is so hot here! Hardly any breeze....please please continue for a few more days. We had to remove some entrance reducers as the bees were frantic to get in with their load of HB.
Dogs are flat out on the cool floor.
Horses standing dozing.
Awesome!
