Busy bee today..... 320mile round trip to collect a load of beekeeping equipment from Shrewsbury for next year, Got a bargain

Checked all 4 hives all are Q+ and good amount of stores and loads of BIAS... So that's it for my inspections this year. Will give some more feed if they seem light at end of Sept and also put z lump of fondant on each. Have I roof insulation to sort now.....

Bought one of these John Deer gators for visiting some of our more remote apiaries during winter.

My bees have been really busy with loads of pollen coming in. Weighed every day for a week and every hive was losing 1lb per day. Feeding started!!!!!
So easy to think they are collecting their own winter stores when actually they are using more than they are bringing in

Don't know if it is the photo, but it seems a lot of space for the driver and passenger. What can you transport on the back in terms of hives and would it double up for one possibly two bales of hay?

Need to get some doors on it, it will be damn cold driving that in winter.....But nice bit of kit. I shall rely on my Dmax...with doors and heater :).

Producing winter bees!

Marathon 2 day heather honey extraction session just about finished, as am I. Heather honey now all extracted and bucketed. Decent frames for cut comb were in short supply, I suspect due to abrupt nectar cut off.
The yield was up, but the average per hive was down.
Was glad I took more hives up there in the "just in case" scenario.
Really pleased with my hydro-press, it makes light work of the compression and lets you get on doing other things.

Will carry four hives in one layer, (also tips but not of any use here) but it will not be used for carrying hives, just fondant, we have a Landrover td5 110 defender and Ifor williams trailers for carrying beehives, plus two mitsi L200 4wd pickups.

Never seen one of these working, but looks quite impressive, I see they make them for quite a large capacity.

That’s some toy ! Lol

Pete, I doubt the largest size would be enough for your operation, but it's good enough for my small-scale stuff.

Went to the out apiary to reposition the Apivar strips (as recommended by manufacturers about half way through their time in the hive). Most colonies had little if any eggs or unsealed brood. Queens laying is cutting back severely
Also fed another gallon of syrup to the 23 hives in the out apiary. Saw very few wasps today hanging around the hives but did see a Euro hornet take one of my bees. This time I had a camera with me but it was too quick for me to be able to get a shot.

Had my first visit from a seasonal bee inspector today. Pleasant chat and a clean bill of health.
