Took a long lunch hour (more like 2.5hrs) and went round my other 4 hives putting on the last ApiLife Var treatments and topping up feeders.

Most hives seem to have plenty of stores now. Will check them all at the weekend before I stop feeding!

Took advantage of the current hot weather to apply Certan to my comb.

After 170 frames my patience was beginning to wane. I wouldn't want to use it if I had a lot of frames to do.

I wanted to air the frames outside to dry but that would be pretty dim!

late getting away from work this afternoon so unable to add next HM thymol treatment and top up feeders.

Syrup all made up now in the Lidl jam boiler ready for a quick operation first thing tomorrow.

Filled the feeder up on the new bees, didnt see queen or new eggs, but wasnt really looking as light was fading and bees getting tetchy. Lots of larvae though.

added next batch of HM thymol oasis/kitchen roll.
topped up feeders.

unhappy to find that the two nucs i made up 3 weeks ago to assist requeening had been wiped out by wasps - 2 nice exmoor buckie queens down the pan.

Stoke on the Riviera saw 26C yesterday.
Removed feeders form 4 hives - full of stores. Still feeding one mini TBH..

Bees very laid back . Could have gone naked and not been stung..( shorts and top)

Bees starting to calm down after having just had a mob of hunt dogs all over the place...

....the guy trying to find them wasn't too impressed when I told him to watch out for the bees.;)

Spent the morning cleaning up my extraction room and planning some alterations to it for next season.

Too hot for a bee suit? Best not move anywhere warmer then.;)

..or wear less and take the odd sting or three.

Went to our association apairy and helped convert two hives to Poly Nationals. Nice and warm.. no problems at all.

Went to look at my girls two hives. One being fed, is now full up, put on apiguard. Number two, took off full frames and inspected, all happy and full. I will inspect/apiguard in a fortnight then leave them be. The girls had a hornet and they were not gentle with it.

Went and put the swarm from three weeks ago (my first hive which was bought and put in place on 26th Aug), into the new hive I bought. All went well. Opened first hive again to find the girls had guzzled the two litres of syrup I put in there yesterday after I finished catching the SECOND swarm from the first hive!!! I had help with that though, a fantastic two hour lesson in bee keeping from Edward, one of our chaps who has been at it for yonks. So, left the second swarm alone today, will try to find the Queen on Monday and kill her then recombine this swarm back into the first hive. My wife, Louise, emptied the two wasp killing jars we have by the hive area and got around a thousand or more from each jar. A good idea those jars are!! Confused? Yep, so am I and I was THERE!!!

"helped convert two hives to Poly Nationals"

what sort of magic equipment do you have there that accepts cedar bits (presumed) in one end and spits out poly items out the other?

or did you mean transferred two colonies to poly nationals???????
:)

Inspected a few hives and fed a load more!

Transferred..

(apologies to the pedants....not worthy )

Good mites

Found a load of good mites on my inspection tray today (dead ones):D

Checked my friend's double brood which is on vacation at my apiary. Queen is still laying (she was busy laying when we spotted her) BIAS and lots of very quiet, beautiful bees, really calm on the comb. Inspection was an absolute pleasure, even if I could wring out my suit afterwards.
