Easier to cut wing.

Those trees are 90 years old.

Cutting wings can lead to superceedure... inspected 4 nucs today that had ( Yellow ) marked and clipped queens laying away nicely... every one superceesed!

I clip wings and mark but have not noticed any increase in supersedure rates compared to those that I didn't clip. Also no need to clip a queen in her current year as swarming with current years queens is not common in my experience. Maybe it is all to do with the youth of the queen as bees more likly to ball a young queen if colony disturbed.
