Queen Bee
but they're American!
For the naked beekeeper - "I am looking to buy a doman name from knethost, but set my site up on a free-web builder" - by all means use the free web builder, but buy the name from,"123" or similar specialist firm (it's cheaper) - Knethosting are brilliant for hosting the site, but if you're using a free web builder, you don't need that, you need to register a domain name, and then "point it" to the website on the free web builder's server..........
To explain a little - when someone wants to visit a site "fredbloggs.co.uk" for instance, you need them "pointed to" where the website is situated. The website itself is a collection of files on a computer connected to the 'net 24/7 (the server space with a company who offer "hosting") - so you have in effect 2 different entities - the website on the server space, and the domain name people who point visitors in the right direction to find the website.
So if you buy your name from "123", I want to visit your site and bung "fredbloggs.co.uk" into the browser and hit "enter" - the request goes to "123", it looks up the computer where it's being hosted (lisa128.knethosting.co.uk for instance), and practically instantaneously I arrive at your website...
The advantage of having the domain name with a company like "123" is that it's cheap, easy to use, and you can use the name to point to any server space on the net (so if you fall out with one server company, or build a better site in the future, all you have to do is go to your "123" control panel and "point" the name to the new server.........)
Hope that helps......
