Does anyone melt bees wax using a Buffalo soup pot?

If so how do you find it?

I don't but as long as it could be thermostatically controlled to the melting point of wax (62-65 degrees) there is no reason why you could not use one.

It's basically an electric bain marie.

I just use two stainless steel stockpots .. one sits inside the other - outer one with water that heats up - the inner one with the wax in it.

If the Buffalo one could be temperature controlled to keep the wax at the optimum temperature for making candle or foundation sheets it could be quite a useful tool for those purposes. Probably safer as well than some methods. 10 litre capacity is a fair amount of wax.

It's reduced to clear at Nisbets ... and they are also clearing out the spare inner stainless steel pots ... Total with free delivery £74.97 .... seems like a lot of money when my stockpots were under £20 for the two 6 & 8 litre nesting pans from Amazon.

But have a small Lyson 10l water jacketed tank which works extremely well. We also have the 70l version which is used to melt the wax which is then run through lint into the smaller tank.
This is a very quick system.

I use the soup warmer as we had a couple spare after closing the food business. they work great for wax and are temp controlled.

My slow cooker st at ‘low’ keeps a plastic jug full of wax at excactly the right temp for pouring into candlle moulds, cost £2 in the local market.

Does the same thing as the Buffalo soup pot, it is more expensive but has a tap for better control, whereas you would need a ladle or jug for the buffalo pot
