Have just checked for varroa drop, put the floor in on tuesday morning removed it this morning found a drop of 10 varroa, average 3 per day. I treated with oxalic acid early january, any members any views ie should I consider further treatment or hold fire and check again next month.

With all respect to Fin, If I were you I'd leave them alone as treatment may interfere with the queen laying - which is the No.1 issue at the moment.

The acceptable level is .5 per day at this time of year, is that right?

That is true. Furthermore outside temps are not so hight that those stuff work.

I am going to do cleaning operations together with false swarm in June.

Agree entirely Finman.Am going to false swarm into new plastic hives in early June.Perhaps make splits with the old brood and raise a few easy queens in the process.
