Cedar contains an anitfungicide and doesn't need any treatment?
Well, I decided to try this with some hives. Some seem OK but others well you'll see what 18 months only of Cumbrian weather can do. The pic. is of the roof but the brood box corner also has some but not as bad.
This particular hive was at the corner of the apiary and took the full force of SW rain and wind blowing straight in off the sea. I have since erected a windbreak so that will help. Also, this is the rear of the hive - the front was facing SE.
And, it was on the edge of a clearing in a mature copse so the rear part did not see much sun.
I plan to wash with a dilute bleach solution and then give it a couple of coats of Cuprinol. (Any better ideas?)
All are Big T's perfects Western Red Cedar.
The BB in the pic. is not from this hive.
