Two things:

- what is the best treatment for a bee sting?

- where's the worst place you've been stung?

The reason I ask is that certain areas of the body seem to have a worse reaction than others (or maybe that's just me?). So, just wondered what was best for reducing swelling/itching.

best thing for a sting.. advice I always give is .. Vodka and orange, with ice.. put 1 cube ice on the sting area. relax with a drink.

Sting on head hurts, fingers no problem (always take off rings before bee keeping)

Worst place is the face! I have had a few 'Elephant Man' faces over the years! If I have had a load of stings I do take an antihistamine, but last season I didn't have to take any. It still bloody hurts when the sting you mind! lol

I like your thinking :)

Got stung on the tip of the nose lately. Awkward place to scratch! Bee got into my welly and stung me on foot through my sock. Half my foot was red, slightly swollen and itchy as hell.

Hydrocortisone cream works a treat. #
Worst sting? Nasal septum: brought tears to my eyes..

# no longer needed as I have developed immunity..to honey bee stings (not wasps or tree bumbles)

Got me just at top of nose last summer, I wouldn't have needed a costume for a fancy dress that's for sure, didn't think of it at the time but I could have robbed the bank and got away with it.

Got my neck last week didn't swell much at all strangely, Ankle seems to be a bad place for swelling experienced it before and been told by others.

I just take a antihistamine now.

I personally find bee sting at the time doesn't really hurt either until you pull the bugger out or once it starts swelling and heating up

However my worst was ending up with a cab full of angry wasps 16+ stings makes you go a bit funny once the squishing war has ended.

Worst I've had was on my stomach - she had got inside my suit and shirt.
My hands swell up a little more each sting...
Antihistamine and really hot water seems to help.
I held a 9v battery over a sting on my neck - the pain and heat was very much reduced but I had a small hard lump there for a few weeks!

I've found that if I put the hot nose of the smoker on the sting immediately, for one or two seconds, it prevents any swelling and lingering pain. Of course the hot smoker hurts, but no worse than the sting. Only feasible where there's bare flesh or thin gloves really, unless you're wearing natural fabrics that won't melt.

well, after almost 35 years i can say it still hurts, the sting itself is not usually the problem, its the itching a few days later, worst sting was in the corner of the eye not painful but the swelling was scary,

also note most stings have been received from other keepers hives while not even inspecting a hive but just getting too close

You must look like a guest of general Pinochet after a day spent with grumpy bees!!

Glad I've received a few hundred stings and now don't react.

Wasps ....vinegar.
Bees ..... A Blue Bag.

Blue bags might be hard for some people to come by :)
Bit of baking soda on wet cotton wool might be a substitute?

Got stung just under the eye a couple years ago. Dread to think what would have happened had I got stung in the eye itself.

I don't keep grumpy bees. And the smoker leaves less of a mark than an untouched sting - no red, no swelling.
