Ah, yes. I got my weekends mixed up. Thank you for reminding me.
Remember also, weekends at a solstice cause a reversal unless theres a neap tide at Weymouth.

Today, a three🤗 - at a sensible time of day.

Could have been a six, with several options to go for. Feeling cheated.

Yes, but I am playing to the West Berkshire rules, not Dorsetshire or Somersetshire. I believe the Wiltshire rules pertain to the solstice clause, unless adopted by the county in question. However today is Sunday, and the escalators on the Dorset Central Line are not in operation. Only letters from the upper octave of a racing wurlitzer can be used.

Again I kick myself for going for a less used word instead of the commonly used one in line three.
Oh well.

I don't think it makes a difference to be honest. If the game just has a load of five letter words in a random order (which certainly used to be the case) then no one word is more likely than another regardless of how common it is. What may often help is choosing words with letters that are more commonly used (like preferring those that are low-scoring tiles in Scrabble :) ), but that can backfire where letters appear multiple times unless you also consider what letters might appear more commonly in conjunction with those you already have. At that point, unless there are a relatively small number of options anyhow, you start to need a dictionary which defeats the object of the game in my view.

Actually that's not strictly true of course. Those words that have already been answers won't come up again :)

Are we sure about that? Or is a random word selector used, possibly with a timer?
It's a list of words, after 2700 odd it will loop around and restart - or they might update the list. Apparently it was vetted to avoid offence to anyone and then later vetted further when a few took offence!

Yes - what I mean is the selection sequential from the list, or random from the list, but with a minimum time between uses.
