Think the bees are thirsty as they are very keen on some pots i planted up with borage seeds that have sprouted.

The soil is sodden as the pots dont have drainage but it dry at the moment so the bees have been working the damp composty soil and can only think its close to the hive and they like the water.

I have some other water sources in the garden but they seem to favour these pots

I have other well drained pots with the same borage seedlings and they aren't interested in them

Are the favourite pots in the sun. They often prefer the warmer source

Fill a wide container, put moss and water in it. Stand it in the sun. You can get a hundred bees at a time there. They love the warm water. You can get loads in the greenhouse drinking the warm water and then they can't find their way out.

Same here, loads of moss in the lawn and the bees are often in it sucking water. I always cut it in the evening as a result and never walk on it with bare feet!

At one of my apiaries there is a horse manure dump..... where the pile has got soaked during the recent rain the result is puddles of rather smelly effulent that is warming in the sun......... the bees are loving it !!!!!

You have to look closely but loads of bees in this picture!!!!! a prize for the right number...just kidding!
