It's reassuring that syrup is spotted - i guess the Chinese "adulterers" have other tricks! In fact I've read you can buy syrup from some Chinese suppliers specifically advertised as not being detected on testing

That's nothing new...go back a while and it was one of the main planks of the selling of Ambrosia............'not detectable in honey'. Was not true then and not true now............but its an expensive thing to prove. Its not just a Chinese ruse, but they have elevated it to a different level.

So you and he feed 1:1 rather than 2:1 at this time of year?

No...its just a whisker under 2:1......1100 litres of water to 2000Kg of sugar. The extra 100 litres ensure speedier dissolving and now crystallising out in the feeders.
