I was standing to the side of the apiary last week watching the activity when a grass hopper skimmed my face and landed on the current bushes.
Having not grown up from my childhood games of finding grasshoppers from their singing I thought I would investigate.
It turns out the buzz of the grasshopper stopped suddenly when it landed as it was actually a honey bee that got took out by a crab spider bigger than I have ever seen.
You can see from the pictures further away how the bee got tricked into thinking the spider was a flower.
Apart from feeding the diving sparrows and tits over my apiary it seems my bees are on the menu for a few others!!
