Dummy Boards?
Monthly magazines?

C'mon, Dusty, it has gone half six and you have not posted. Are you having a lay-in this morning (after a hard day yesterday - Sunday?)

Wow! You guys!

This is probably the nearest I've been to being popular!

Yes - a couple of accurate guesses:

It's gratifying that so many of you have got the message about crown boards...
...... but I make my own now!

You might like compare this version of the Twelve Days, with the original:

On the twelfth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
12 Drummers Drumming
11 Pipers Piping
10 Lords a Leaping
9 Ladies Dancing
8 Maids a Milking
7 Swans a Swimming
6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a pear tree

Well done folks. You were a bit slow to start with, but momentum built up to a high level of mild interest.

Enjoy Epiphany.

Dusty

Incidentally, on the point of my having a lay-in, you, you're right.

This is the first working day of the New Year.......
.....and I retired from the NHS on New Year's Eve after nearly 40 years of working in hospitals.*

Reckon I deserve an hour extra today.

Dusty

* Mind you, I was down to 2 days a week - and I'm still doing private work and my stuff with Manchester Cathedral.

CONGRATULATIONS on your retirement.

Thank you for the fun of the guessing game. Most enjoyable.

Fab! Thank you for taking the time to do this! It's been fun!

Well, thank you, all.

You know, I've been thinking.......
[WARNING: When a cleric's voice rises half an octave, and s/he starts by saying, "You know....", you should duck; there's a sermon on the way.]

You know, I've been thinking.

"The Twelve Days of Christmas" was probably written for children in France to remind them of the 12 days between Christmas Day and Epiphany (6th January) - which celebrates the visit of the Wise Men with their gifts for the baby Jesus.

But the Christmas season doesn't end till Candlemas - 2nd February.

So, as you've all enjoyed playing along so much, I think I might just extend this little game till Candlemas!

Anyone guess what my supplier might send to me on the 39th Day of Christmas?

Weeel - just one point - in the original it was not
4 Calling Birds
Dusty

But four colly birds - the old word for black bird - a calling bird was a captive bird used to lure other birds in for trapping it was changed when people forgot the old name and assumed it meant a caged singing bird. (even in thiose days touchy feely townies making erroneous assumptions)

Enjoy Epiphany.

Dusty

Had mine already thanks in the words of an old colleague now passed away when dealing wih recalcitrant Russian Captains ' no more mr nice guys :D

Where is the 13th day Dusty?

For some people in the world it is Christmas day tomorrow. Lets not forget their are lots of different beliefs held by different people and we should respect that. We do live in a democratic free society, thanks to the brave lads who gave/give their lives and limbs to make it so.

Lets be thankful cheer up and play a game.

Aww I missed all the fun while I was having needles stuck into me throughout the Christmas period. Ok everyone, we have to do Christmas all over again, I'm sure you won't mind ;) lol

Well, behive1234 and Kaz,

I'm knackered now and, as I've just retired, I've taken to snoozing in slippers all day in a bath chair, with a blanket, waiting for Matron to bring a small glass of sweet sherry with my medication.

I'll leave it up to someone more Orthodox to take it from here.

Dusty.

OK.........................
How about,
On the 13th day of Christmas my supplier sent to me

13 receipts from their sale
