Don't confuse CCD with other, known, causes for bees dying and hives failing. I lost a colony two winters ago, because of the hard winter and late spring. That sort of loss is not what beekeepers mean when we talk about CCD. Likewise losses caused by spraying and neonics are not to be confused with CCD.

If your work is to have any validity you need to ensure that you know what CCD is at the outset. It's something peculiar to parts of the USA, but lazy journalists in the UK are always ready to plunder American experiences in an effort to generate a sensationalist article (for further information on lazy journalism, see "Daily Mail").

Probably more correct to say unknown causes.

If you check a hive and there are no bees..........do you know why?

Did they die or did they leave.

If you were in touch with your inner self, you would know why. Your voices would tell you...:sunning:

Be good if they did because then I would be one up on the scientists.. and all the other people who have no idea why a hive is suddenly empty..

There are known knowns, there are known unknowns and there are unknown unknowns.
