Some of our fraternity do love their gadgets don't they. These vapourisers make great "Boys toys" for those beekeepers that already have a garage full of assorted and hardly ever used power tools plus the must have ride on lawn mower and the Chelsea tractor. I'm still a Philistine (Dinosaur?) and will still be using oxalic dribble in December and for the last 50+ years have always managed to light my smoker using a single match and am totally unimpressed by the size of the "flamethrowers" used by alpha male beekeepers to light theirs.

I wouldn't call a sublimox a boys toy or gadget at all . I've been using mine for years it's by far the quickest method of vapourising. when your time is money you have as efficient as possible.

Well you could try to make one using a the same stuff you use to warm up a 10oz Mini crucible, but not sure how easy it would be to mod a crucible and make the whole thing safe to use

Yes ... but it leaves a mess, just as Api-Bioxal does in any sublimator.

It's those pesky 'cutting agents' they mix in to make the, hugely valuable, white oxalic acid powder go further ... before packing it into small foil packages and selling it for large amounts of money.

I wondered the same thing, but I found & checked out a link from the Thrones sublimox web page yesterday. A picture is shown of the cup after using a half dose. It worked a treat but everything was well gunked up. Probably not too long before you have a problem with a blocked pipe!!

Nope price drop of only £10 at Abelo...it was retailed at £360, plus you get 2 spare "O" rings. I think the latest shown drop is from the recommended retail price; which Abelo never charged anyway.
Doubt there will be much of a war there is a limited market for this type of specialist equipment. Just good to see you can get them in the UK these days.

On ebay at £390 from Abello.... now £350.

Favorite Auntie going to visit some "friends" in Palermo over Christmas, will ask me to pick one up for me at probably a fraction of the price!
