Its such a shame that a National bee unit doesn't include Scotland at all, even though scottish keepers are constantly urged to use beebase by the SBA - makes it all seem rather pointless really.

Isn't the point that it enables them to tell you if there is foul brood in your area? And do inspections if neighbouring apiaries, using the location info on Beebase?

Probably. Its the lack of anything else like a simple report that was referred to in Newbeeneil's post that makes it anything other than national.

Yes it does seem strange that it doesn't cover Scotland as well........ doesn't Scotland have its own inspectorate?

Maybe the bees like the fact they are already appear to have their independence from the rest of the UK.......They aren't coloured yellow and black for nothing.... vote SNBee.anyone? ;)

I think little Niccy might have a dickie fit. Anything that appears to strengthen the Union would contradict the SNP agenda. 'it's a devolved matter' ranks up there with 'it's legal tender'. :unionsmilie:

Yeah, one bee inspector iirc , there's a new person now but I met the previous guy Steve, impressively businesslike though not originally a beekeeper, when the workload demands it I believe they borrow more bodies from their animal inspectorate.

Odd isn't it - we are told its a national unit, we are all encouraged to join it and yes there is an inspectorate which also tells us to join with the national unit and that they are working together...............................
