Thinking of next year, what is the cheapest and best queen rearing nucs available I am going to make some next year.

I have splitted normal polybox with table saw. Then glue 3 cm poly board piece to the place of missing wall. PU glue.
You get three 3 frame nucs.

Or two 3 frame nucs and one 2 frame nuc. Better dimensions.
 
I like the little Keilers... the Paynes 6 framer dummied down to 3 or four with a thick dummy is also useful... but more expensive on bees!

When you have 3 frame nuc, you get 6 frame when you pile two.

.next step is whole box.
 
I tried queen rearing for the first time this year with minor success; to my shame I'd have more queens if I'd known that mating nucs starve very quickly.

I use the Lyson mating nuc which are rather good. The floor and roof come off, it has a built in feeder and each nuc can support two three frame nucs.

They are about £40.
