Putting Fondant on a Hive

I will feed my bees going into winter with 12.5kg of fondant. Concerned it may 'drip' onto the clustered colony and cause a problem. Seen suggestion of putting it on a QE above the brood box. Appreciate thoughts and shared experience pls.

It works without dribbling, but limit the size of slit underneath. Leave the block in the bag (even leave it in the box) cut a slit and lay it on a QX; add a super as eke (I use Abelo box feeders as crownboards, and just flip them over).
