Propane vapes - how robust are they?

I was looking through options for Oxalic treatment.
I only have 12 hives so been using a wand, want something easier.

I see tons of products ranging from £105 to £130 that use propane as heating source.
How effective are these compared to the much more expensive systems that run off 230v?

I assumed we'd mix water with the oxalic crystals to form a "liquid" and that would be injected into a cup of sorts to be heated and vaporised, so "similar" to the other vaporisers. Is my understanding incorrect?

I think they aerosolise the solution rather than sublimate it. I have no idea re efficacy though.

Would they need heat to aerosolise it?
I thought the heat was for sublimation.

Foggers are used in the US not the UK. You say you have used a wand, then you will understand it is sublimated from dry crystals. If you are adding water then you would be adding sugar and dribbling the solution. Using foggers there is no control over the dosage applied to each hive, by the time you get to the last hive the oxalic dosage may be minimal and not be effective. At least with the more expensive units you know how much you are applying to each hive.

Yes, you are incorrect in your thinking ... you might as well just trickle the OA in sugar solution or spray it onto the frames with a pump. Useless bits of kit - don't waste your money. You need one that sublimates the OA - ie: turns the crystals into a gaseous state which then sublimates out of the gaseous state inside the hive.

Have a look at the at the GasVap for a low cost solution - takes a bit of getting used to but works well when you have the technique mastered.
