problems with refined sugar?

the thing about cane sugar - huge environmental footprint as it is planted in lieu of rainforests etc, and has to be transported here from halfway round the world, not to mention the vast amounts of fertiliser needed and water to get a decent crop in a hot climate.

Best do with sugar produced locally I think - and if it's beet sugar, then so be it for my bees !
