Problem Filtering Rendered Wax

if you don't use water, i presume your wax does not have any honey\syrup traces.

I collected a colony complete with wild comb and as it was so late in the year, popped them in a box with a QX ontop of a hive with wax to be sorted out in spring.

I performed a shook swarm a couple of weeks ago and have the original colonys wax to melt down. There is a great deal of syrup in it.

I have never melted wax before, so this is for playing\experimenting with... i do not enter shows, so does not need to be perfect.
 
Cooling slowly is the trick for large crack free blocks, although it is not foolproof.

This answers another question I was going to post. I have been making candles successfully from paraffin wax for years but when I tried with bees' wax recently all of the candles cracked and split. At least now I know why.
