Damn! A lot more than I ever thought I'd have
Trying to get ahead for next year, has anyone any advice on where I can source the correct face masks (disposable) or the type you change the filters on when using your vaporiser please? Also what's the spec I should be looking to buy?

No!, you only wear those in Bed

leaflet says EN143 FFP3 disposable (also used for abestos dust) but are single use

LASI univesity of sussex say use a organic vapour mask with screw filters, that means either a ABEK1 P3 RD filter or A2 P3 filter

mine is made by climax

It's a serious Q though - what is the best way to protect one's lungs and face ??

And mine is a serious answer... it is what I use, do you think I put it on here as some kind of idiotic joke or something?

LoL - are they still guaranteed to work after all those years ?

All of what years? My son only recently handed his s10 in for the new GSR... the s10 has only recently been replaced by this newer version with a one piece visor, brand new S10's can still be bought, as can the GSR, and brand new sealed replacement filters are readily available.

Below is the new GSR, which is the recent replacement for the s10.

Thanks MM I'll look them up. Are Ebay reliable for this sort of kit?

Just using that well known search engine, is the filter classification A2 or P3 or A2P3?

stick with a known brand, ensure it is within date. some filters contain active charcoal that deteriorates in time.

the respirators we use are Sari but we are working in confined spaces so the acumilation of gas is such we need these

when working in the open and due to the method of application this style is going overboard as the concentration of vapour you are likley to come into contact with is small, for added protection a half face mask with A1B1E1K1 or A1B1E1 you are using oxalic acid to please ensure filter is suitable for acid gasses and vapour

as important as mask were eye protection

Particle mask, not gas and vapours? Oxalic acid only becomes a gas at around 160 Celsius. Likewise it soon becomes a solid as it mixes with cold air. Just ask your local ppe supplier for the appropriate filter cannisters to go with a standard mask. No activated charcoal necessary.

unfortunately oxalic is also decomposing in the real heating situation

The canisters were impregnated with some chemical but that was for "Blood Agent" or HCN, (hydrogen-cyanide) that could pass through the carbon. You always had to change a canister after being attacked with HCN, then good old Sadam H, had a method of freeze drying it to make it more persistent.

The S10 should be good for oxalic as long as it's a good fit!

If it doesn't fit then you're P1551ng in the wind.:smilielol5::gnorsi:

Emailed 3M and this is their reply:

We have several options but the simplest is the 3M 4255 which is an A2P3 half mask with filters moulded in. To get similar protection with replaceable filters use 7500 mask, 6055 A2 filters, 5935 P3 filters and 501 filter retainer.

I wear nothing as i don't find it necessary, when any vapour appears i do a sensible thing and stand in the opposite direction to where the very small amount of vapour is blowing, now if i was to crawl into a card board box and vape myself i may well wear a dust mask.
