Me too Enrico... And I'm in Tropical Hampshire!!! I want to know where these pollen collecting bees are? It must be a totally different weather front...

I'm only about 3 miles from you ... probably less as the crow flies ...It's bizarre - mine are flying and collecting pollen whenever the sun is shining - air temperature makes no difference, they fly in temps down to 6 degrees. Hive in the garden, sheltered spot, South East(ish) facing.

It's one of two things as far as I would be thinking:

A. The bees.

B. The Hive.

My bees are small black ones from a swarm last June, my hive is an ultra insulated Long Deep Hive (keeps them very warm and active).

What have you got ?

Phil

Mine were hardworking welshies now a hienz 57, in a national.

The odd one pops out for eliminations, but no foraging.

The colony thats bringing in the pollen are in a good sunny position on a raised terrace south facing
Other hives are in a more seclude less open position and although they fly when its warmer they dont appear to bring in any pollen

When I do my splits in the spring I plan to place more colonies on the terrace position
I also have a hive where they just dont stir unless its 10c but then in the Spring takes off like a rocket and produces a phenominal amount of honey
Quite a mixture of Carnis which race away in the spring but dont like the heather moors
Buckfast which are steady eddies
And a colony of big black bees I picked up as a swarm that are the calmest docile creatures who produce propolis by the ton!!
