Why aren't any of the bigger players here using trailers ? Or are they ?

No one takes me seriously bee keeping wise or any other time for that matter lol..

Anyway Agricultural wise or other i would rather chop my left bollock of before i put any of my hives in a trailer.

I have dragged twin wheel and single wheel ifor Williams many a time, also other trailers when moving Quad Bikes or other bits about and they bounce like fook no matter of the weight on them.

put some egg's in a hive and put it on the trailer and do a test run to where you would drive, my bet is you will have a omelette ready for the frying pan by the time you get back home.. :drool5:

Hives also travel well in these trailers, unless it tips over.

Now you are talking...how much are they to hire i have three hives that i might be moving to the heather next year.. :D

Seen plenty of trailers bouncing along the motorway behind cars. Sure it happens but not seen an Articulated trailer bounce. If you were closer I’d offer to split the load and put my 3 on as well. He He He!

Well. I finally made my mind up and went for a L200.

Got to within a whisker of placing the order online and then realised I was buying the 2017 model and there was a very small revision to the 2018 model that I actually wanted - Android Auto which syncs your phone to the infotainment system and uses google maps instead of a built in system.

Luckily the online vendor has held the 2017 price for a 2018 model and it was due to come last week of feb. I have said I will have it on the 1st March to get the 18 plate as that should help a tiny bit when i come to sell it in 3/4 years.

I went for the L200 Barbarian Auto 4WD with GST plus Hardtop and load liner. 2018 model on a 18 plate. Came to a total of £29500 OTR with road fund, VAT etc all included. Just within budget.

I tried with all my might to get the local dealer to match and they just couldnt get anywhere near even after a couple of weeks of trying!

I trust you are dealing with a legit online seller. Lots of scams around selling cars online.

I do hope so!

New-car-deal.co.uk

Company name is Moto Deal.

Checked them on Companies house and the company looked in good health and has been going over 16 years.

Also spoke to him on the phone on two different phone numbers.

He is only a broker apparently so never sees the stock and I just get it delivered direct from Mitsubishi.

He has only taken a £500 deposit which is exactly the same deposit as Mitsubishi wanted.

Also, i read a memo in the mitsubishi centre that COSMOS black was changing to Diamond Black for the 2018 model.

I asked him i wanted metallic black and lo and behold, it states diamond black on the order form so he was definitely in contact with them at some point.

Fingers crossed hey!

Also my advice is to stay away from the D40 Navara unless your good at welding or damn sure it's a good chassis.

I have welded a good few back together now.

Also the Navara D22 is known to throw a leg out of bed once and a while, they need good regular servicing.

Tell me about it, i am a casualty of such in no better place than a A road..

I used to have an EX-NATO Simca Marmon, which I often regretted getting rid of. I had it before beekeeping and was real go-anywhere type of truck. Basically a french version of the Unimog, but only cost me £2k.
It's age meant it was TAX free, and its class meant it did not need an MOT. Insurance was £100 a year. The downside, it did about 13 miles to the gallon if driving at a constant speed in a straight line.

Nowadays, I have a regular car as I do a lot of miles, and bought a second car for beekeeping. Many of my hives are off the beaten track, and have to drive down tracks with cavenous pot holes or mud.

I read older Nissans had a lot of engine issues around the 90k miles mark, and eventually plumbed for a cheap old L200. Four years later, it is as invaluable for me as my hive tool. It allowed me to take hives even further out of the way, but has also made me very relient on it.

Space wises, it is pretty good, and if I need to carry more, I just hook up a trailer. The photos are from when I was swapping kit out in Autumn. Even I was impressed with what it could carry! (note the boot prop! :) )

I read older Nissans had a lot of engine issues around the 90k miles mark,

Also serious chassis rust issues. Had a Terrano for a couple of years - a stop gap replacement offered at a low price, with the bonus that I knew the car's history. Kept it for longer than I intended to, but no choice but get rid as, even though the rest was great, the chassis would have failed the MOT.

Seems I dodged a bullet here.

Cant wait for the L200 to turn up.

1st March seems an age away!!

I thought about a trailer but it's the bouncing about that concerns me. Anyone got on ok with them?

I pulled a car trailer with a 1947 Rover 12 convertible on it. Did not bounce around but the Rover 12 weighed 1.5 tonnes and the Rover 90 I pulled it with could not do more than 50mph as the brakes were dubious at best...and the engine was clapped out..

i use a trailer without any problems at all,and can get 36 supers on double stacked with ratchet straps.the trailer has no suspension but this is not a problem unless you drive like a *****.
