I couldn't be bothered / too busy to read all the posts on this thread BUT to answer the original question I add one tablespoon of organic cider vinegar per litre of syrup which I have mentioned before...

....however everything I do is wacky and all my bees are dead.

This seems to be turning into a "who has the nicest water thread"

That's not very inclusive though whith most of Southern and Eastern England not being able to participate.

But like Rolf Harris - I suppose most of us prefer our own water
