That's terrible. It looks enormous...
Is there a permanent opening at the top or did you forget to close a lid?

There is an opening at the top but it has two bars across to stop the birds getting in. One of those bars us detached at one end. It takes me all my strength to bend it out of the way. The rat obviously did that but then it must have sprung back into place once it was in! I had to bend the bar right out to pull the thing out!
