They're junk, the wax etc at least. It's sad because of all the flying but as much work for you and the bees to clean up as to start afresh. You could rebuild and scorch the frames but MAN that's a pain. And as said above (sort of) the wax yield in the solar melter you could spend the effort on instead is tiny.

The Welsh burn down cottages owned by the English.

Only if they were unoccupied - which was 90% of the year.
To be honest, I have no problem with this - if the English are stupid enough to pay top dollar for a derelict shepherd's hovel not fit to even house pigs in, then let's have their money.
It seem now though that they're buying up French ex pigsties and calling them gits or some such - bet they're twitching with this Brexit thing :D

That does not only happen in Wales, the house prices are cheaper up North so the southern softies by property up north in the countryside then complain about the smell the pigeon bangers and the normal country life.

The Lake District where Stan hails from( though he was born and lived just across the border for 2 years so is a proud Yorkshireman) suffers much similarly. Some villages like Coniston are 80% second homes and are ghost towns at times. People bring their supplies from their local supermarket and don't use the local shops which close. When we moved together to a new house the townie second homers complained to environmental health about our cockerel.
Here in Wales nobody cares and we have the nicest neighbours, all Welsh. The dog sleeps outside at night to guard the house though ;)

Why did you guys choose to settle in Wales? Are you welsh Erica?

My family are all from Wales but my parents happened to live in Preston for two years - and so I was born there. Then they moved back home. Led to much debate about whether I'm Welsh or English!
And btw you can't have the nicest neighbours cos I've got the nicest neighbours anywhere. Two gay dads with a little boy. They are sooo nice and kind. Very forgiving of my bees too.

Lots of affordable space in an area I know from childhood holidays.
I've lived all over the place, had probably twenty homes. Husband hasn't though, has lived in Cumbria since he was two and wants to go back when we are too old to look after this place. Me? I'd be happy leaving this place in an eco friendly box....not too soon though ;)

Seem we all have that problem expect ours are northerners moaning about the tractors spreading muck and being slow and the widths of the road an well most things really! Don't know why they come here sometimes :icon_204-2: is funny when they pay top dollar for a old damp fishermans house

Same in the nice villages on the Norfolk coast. Mainly Londoners. They have pushed house prices up so much in Wells next the sea that locals can't afford to live in their own village and businesses struggle to stay afloat in winter when it turns into a ghost town. Bloody 'English'

Here they buy up the ex family homes, turn them into HMO's and fill them full of scroats.
