David Heaf demonstrates a simple tool to cut through "adhesions" to the side of the hive, and there is a gadget called a "Gatineau Lift" for those wanting to nadir the hives without an assistant - as I said, you CAN do these things with Warrés, but a little knowledge of them is very useful too...I've not found "weight" to be an issue - the boxes are quite small, and it's a doddle to take off the roof and quilt - lift the boxes to the side as one entitiy, add the new one, then plonk the boxes back on and reinstall quilt and roof........ simples!
It's a bit like criticising linux because "you do it differently" to Windoze - there are differences in management style with Warré hives, and I find most criticisms tend to come from people with no direct experience or understanding of them....
