Mesh Floors

I have a national flat pack which I will be erecting shortly but it has a solid floor. If I wish to have a mesh floor is there a minimum sized mesh I would need to use ? This will be me making the national !!

You can buy the mesh from most of the online suppliers.

Look up varroa mesh or bee hive mesh floor on ebay. Most of the suppliers of hive parts can help so if you make up an order for frames, foundation etc you might get into their free postage bracket.

Ahh Yes ... I'd forgotten that ... I ended up doing most of it on the phone and did a direct bank transfer for payment. So helpful.

3mm is a good size for mesh - big enough for varroa and debris to fall straight through but too small for bees or wasps.

Woven mesh is better than perforated metal, because you get a greater proportion of holes and less metal.
