Yep ... had an email from our assoc yesterday - pretty incompetent of BBKA ! Very basic error - goodness knows what they will do - replace them all ? Someone needs to get fired !

They sent this to me,when I pointed out the date error? seems they've informed merchants but not their members?

" Hello

Thank you for providing membership benefits to our members. I am pleased to advise you that circulation of your membership benefit has now published to all members via our membership magazine, BBKA News.
All your details have also been posted within the Members Area of www.************* with a dedicated page.

The new BBKA membership card has also been mailed to each member, which incorporates details of your benefit. However, due to a printing error the new card - see attached - states 12/13 rather than 13/14. We are unable to reprint and redistribute the card, but please note that this card is valid until May 2014. Should the attached be presented to you by a member please honour any benefits as their membership is valid until the new card is issued next year.

Please accept my apologies for any confusion caused and thank you once again for providing benefits and services to BBKA Members.

With Kind Regards

Jane"

Yes, i cn see my local BOOKERs cash and carry accepting an out of date card when i ask for a BBKA trade discount of winter Sugar, it is hard enough to get them to honour an in date card

BBKA should replace the lot - it's clearly not a 'printers' error or they would have reprinted them so it had to be in origination or artwork - somebody in BBKA cocked up - should get fired - should be reprinted. Lesson to learn here - complacent BBKA ? I think so ...

Not worth a sacking, but it is classic amateurish work and a schoolboy error.

Should be reprinted, but they're not going to. Instead, they have told all the suppliers who offer deals/discounts that the card is valid until 2014.

I saw a letter to secretaries this am and distributed to our divisional members.

By the way, the email admits it is not a printing error, but an error despite "several proof readings". Bloody ineffective proofing, therefore as good as not doing any.

lol its a mistake we all make them

In any commercial organisation 'mistakes' of this magnitude are not acceptable ...it's not just the fact that it's been made it's the 'Just use the card and ignore the incorrect date on it' attitude of the BBKA that's an issue ...

What discount off the listed price of sugar do you get from Bookers?

I quite agree. I expect it to be on the agenda of the next delegate meeting, as frankly, it is not acceptable. It's bloody amateur.

Not worth shooting anyone about it, mind, but they should own up and take the medicine.

I am not a member of the BBKA but do you really want to see someone lose his/her job over getting a year wrong?
They could of course use the memberships money to send out new cards would that make it any better?

Ah! It would be nice to get a membership card.
How long ago were they sent out?

You may already have thrown it away - check all the junk that came with the BBKA News ... it was in there ! I'm all in favour of saving BBKA members money ... but let's see them save it in a professional manner and possibly let members know that there is a card in there !!

That is one advantage (out of many :) of spouses.. they point it out to the dim males..

How about billing the BBKA for any discounts refused when the "new " card is presented.

I guess the chance of success is as rare as hens teeth.

Tosh - attached to the address cover sheet as a white insert in a full yellow background clearly visible.

If a merchant refuses to honour "membership benifits" because of this then simply report to JM, i won't happen again?
