Marked queen colour rubbed off?

This is probably an FAQ....does it happen a lot that the paint rubs off? Today's brief inspection (which I'm not sure I'm brave enough to show on video. ;) ) included a sighting of the queen.....at least I think it was She as she's quite nosey and usually makes a point of being seen and adored. The last time I saw her, which was about three weeks ago, she had an obvious green dot, today not a trace. There's never been a QE and she's a big Buckie. Brood increase from nuc arrival in early June until recently had been a bit slow but has gone up markedly of late late and I had put this down to the colony getting established. Do you get any external indicators of supercedure as it progresses?
 
Dots, marks etc can and often do, rub off or the workers clean her.
