Just noticed that MAQS are advertising a 21 day treatment with one strip for 14 days then the 2nd for 7 days.
Has anyone seen any data on how effective this is versus the 2 strips for 7 days?
Thanks

I heard at the convention this spring that the manufacturers had admitted (off the record) that they had got it wrong with the instruction to use two strips on National and Lang formats as it is too strong but they couldn't officially come out with it and amend the instructions as they would then have to relicence and would cost tens of thousands. Maybe this is a getaround?

if that is true, I want my money back AND compensation for the queens I lost...

And that is the other reason they would never officially admit a mistake!

I have this habit of refusing to adopt anything new first off. I always wait a while for others to suffer whatever teething problems there are.

As a strategy through life, it has saved me a great deal of hassle and money.
Windows ME anyone?

It is formic acid. Read from Canadian researches "flash treatment".

MAQS has been used in Canada 10 years before UK using. It is formic acid and nothing more.

This is an advert from the manufacturer of MAQS stating a new recommendation.
The advert is in the American Bee Journal so is clearly aimed at the US market.

It is same formic acid.

.there are different size dosages, how long package is effective.

Nothing different in USA market. Same bees.

What are your thoughts on Formic acid Finman? I was using it earlier this month then temps hit 40oC so replaced it with Amitraz so I really dont know if it was effective or not.

I have no thoughts about it. Much used method.

But have you used it successfully, and would you recommend as a treatment. You mostly have opinions on other threads. Your opinion matters!

I do not use all systems, what world offers.
There are official test results about methods. Read them and do not trust hobby beekeepers' opinions.
