making foundation

hi everyone is there anyone out there that make there own foundation? I made some today and it turned out well but theirs a few specs of dirt embedded in the wax strips, my question is does the wax have to be spotless before the bees to build it out and expand it, thanks

No, it doesnt need to be spotless, but any blemishes, wrinkles and spots are likely to be the kernel of a slightly oddly built bit of comb.
