Who knows it reminds me of my grandad who use to smoke a pipe.Lovely old video.
Wonder how many of those chaps ended up with oral cancer?
Yes I did notice the gentleman using his pipe to smoke the bees.. I wonder if the dog ever got stung... He/she didn't seem faised by the cart.Wonderful method of smoking the bees! Spot the skep falling off the back of the dog-cart!
Crush and strain I reckon...Yes I did notice the gentleman using his pipe to smoke the bees.. I wonder if the dog ever got stung... He/she didn't seem faised by the cart.
How much honey could be produced from a skep?
And how would they remove it?
Paul Walton ( B+) on this forum has his own web pages and the complete series of these videos from Germany with English translation.
Curly, I know you were after old videos..but this is a more modern film, to show how things have changed with technology. Look at the bee brush at 2 minutes. Queen cells and all go in by the look of it. Deft knife work around the brood too. Like taking your brood on a ride at sideshow alley!
Yep, but unless it’s regulated out - and the trend seems to be the other way, chlorinated chicken anyone - it will be impossible to compete on price.A masterclass in how not to treat bees and extract honey ... is it any wonder there is cheap honey coming in from the Far East ?

Well ... if and when chlorinated chicken arrives at least under the current food regulations they will have to declare it and consumers can make a conscious decision not to buy it ... unlike polluted honey where they have no idea what is in the jar !Yep, but unless it’s regulated out - and the trend seems to be the other way, chlorinated chicken anyone - it will be impossible to compete on price.
