You see ... I work on the basis that if it works and I can see it working then I'm not that concerned if I can't explain it. Not everyone can dowse successfully but I've seen people who thought they were complete sceptics taking the p*ss only to find the rods moving in their hands ... and people who were desperate to dowse unable to get them to do anything.

I think it's the same as other innate abilities and skills - some people can and others can't, no matter how hard they try.

What is the KISS principle Madasafish ?

Keep It Simple, Stupid.

Or otherwise: The simplest solution is usually correct.

So for leylines, people who believe in dowsing have involuntary muscle actions when their subconscious recognises features which tell them they have found what they are consciously looking for..

Can anybody explain to me what a ley line actually is? Is it a steaight line? Where do they start & end?

I must admit I do not really believe in Fairies!

Yeh my postcode. (See how far away these 'important' places are.

Dan Brown would be proud of the idea.

The red line runs from Stonehenge in Wiltshire to Camp on Mockham Down in Brayford
The green line runs from Berney Arms windmill in Reedham to Tithe barn in Havering
The blue line runs from Ancaster Roman settlement in Ancaster to Wheeldale Howe in Egton

Draw lines across any map and they're bound to cross ancient sites somewhere.
This country has been so densely populated for so long, it would be difficult to draw long distance lines that are not "ley lines".
The human brain is good at "pattern matching" it's a persistant evolutionary survival tool, but patterns is all they are, no more significant in predicting anything than stellar constellations or rainbows are.
