I stuck this in OT Chat as it's really just an observation that I don't think is really relevant to beekeeping.

When I started working on some kit at about 15:00 this afternoon I noticed a drone sitting under the potting shed roof (corrugated clear plastic). Lazy *** is still there. He's definitely alive, but just hasn't moved much. He's on his own. Could he have been attracted by the smell of the kit I'm working on? Or just hanging around waiting to join a passing mating flight?

CAn't answer you with any degree of certainty but both myself and a beekeeping mate have both watched drones inspect bait hives. Whether they were hoping thatthe hive was inhabited I can't say but the bait hives began to attract scout bees thereafter. There could be a link between the two but equally it could just be happenstance.
