I was at one of Randy Oliver's apiaries today that had been bothered by a bear last night. It's a clever bear with strong digging skills (digs under the fence to get in). Anyway, they chased me off but I avoided stings...although I had to drag a bee out of my hair. I don't think a black t-shirt was my wisest wardrobe choice.

The next apiary I got stung through my T-shirt on my belly (big target) so I decided to swallow my pride and put on a jacket with a veil. I reckon the bear-bothered bees probably left some venom on my clothes/hair which set the other lot off.

Most of his bees are little angels btw.

I only got stung the once this year on the chin. It would appear that i am not that good at darning a damaged veil as i thought.
