Actually, that's not right. The underfloor entrance is used quite a lot in Germany (https://youtu.be/ZCcbj1Gv9UM?t=22m35s). The Mini-Plus mating nucs have underfloor entrances too.

The Keiler Kasten I use are the parallel side type ( Square)
The entrance has a plastic 3 position discThe entrance is small and easilly blocked by dead bees.
Mr Hoskins in Swindon has modified his, cutting away the inside section in the floor and covering the opening to the qe type slot in the sliding floor.
Perhaps the qx hole in the base is necessary as the main entrance can become blocked.
German engineering! Merc will only start if clutch is depressed... idiot proofing I suppose.

if you leave the keys in a new VW has similar tech

if you stop turn off the engine and leave the keys in the lock then open the boot for more than 5 mins, it immobalises the engine. . i turned off the engine one day and the wife got out opened the boot to take something to a friend, yakyakyak the boot stayed open for ten minutes I turned the ignition switch to start...nothing,

eventually i found out the hard way that once immobalised you have to , take the key out of the ignition ,get out of the car, lock the car, unlock the car...get in and then start the car
