Now I'm itching to start my mentorship.

Sorry, just wanted to put it out there :)

Did you not have a practical part on the course. Seems to me a waste of time just doing the class room bit when you could get all that from a few books.

It was an introductory course, the mentorship is indeed the practical part.
There were some hive inspections during the course, but those too were more demonstrative, as I said the practical part is the mentorship.

Indeed there's far more than book learning involved in this. You can read all you want but if you cannot put it in practice it is useless. It's a combination of knowledge and practice.

Well done at finishing the course and I hope you are looking forward to having your own bees.

Don't forget to ask any questions you have on here as well as asking your mentor. Also don't forget to get a few stings the more you get the less you worry about them unless you react badly.

Anyway good luck.

I can't wait to get my own bees, but I know full well I'm not ready.

As for the stings, don't worry, I've been bitten and stung by pretty much everything, including wasps, spiders, scorpions, feral cats, goats, sea anemones, crabs and once by a foxface (not pleasant, trust me).

Barring an allergic reaction I should be fine ;)

How did goats make that list? :icon_204-2:

My parents used to keep goats and there was a right nasty one that wouldn't butt you, but she'd walk up to you, give a big bite and run off as if it was a game.

Goats are great characters :)
I really miss having any nowadays
