Is this a sealed QC?

Hi Tom, I didn't shake them I blew them out of the way, they were completely covering it and made taking a photo tricky. I just can't understand why as the existing queen was definitely transferred alive and well and was laying fine

Hi Rob55,
Maybe they responded to sudden reduction in pheromone levels due to larger box?

Out of interest - some of the drone brood which has appeared in the last week seems bloody huge, it extends a good 5-6mm out of the face of the surrounding comb and looks quite bulbous. There isn't loads of it but there is a little in the corners of some frames, where a week ago I don't remember seeing any. I also noticed a few big drones on the comb. Maybe this is normal for the time of year?

Hi Rob,
That one is work in progress. Not drawn out properly and not sealed. Find other pics of emergency cells.

Around the edges of the brood nest is usual and yes, it's normal for the time of year or more accurately, the strength of the colony AND the season; as long as it's not excessive, or your frames aren't completely peppered with it, that is.

I may be wrong but as I read this thread as well as this "queencell" you have an open charged queencell
If that is the case remove the suspect sealed cell, try and confirm whether Q+ or Q- then leave them to it.

its looks like an emergency queen cell as its very small. I would be suspicious that you somehow killed the queen and they are trying to replace her. Have another look into the hive and check for open brood and eggs. If you can find neither then your queen has gone and you are in trouble . I hope I am wrong.
