Estimate how much time you think you will need to spend on your bees. Then triple it.

And after you've done that, estimate how much money you will need to spend then quadruple it! (although if you asked him indoors, he'd say just stick a 0 on the end of any figure you estimate - bah humbug!)
 
Don't stand in front of your hive, otherwise they get confused, and can't find their home, so you end up with a bee overcoat :)

Makes them angry too. According to physics they shouldn't be be able to fly anyway, but most are coming in after a long flight with full cargo

It's good advice not to stand in front of the hive, however the second part is incorrect - according to physics they can fly.
 
Read as many books as possible but most of all ENJOY IT. Its a great hobby and the problems and troubles make it all the more interesting. Good luck. ps forgot to say aswell dont be shy about asking for advice from other bee keepers.
