Though a colony will generally keep WM at bay, one or two will always manage to sneek in. Though one or two won't create an issue in a colony , it is when one removes excess brood combs or pollen combs that they will suudenly within a week or two will proliferate as eggs will usually be present .

Well, (reading from the Bruco label) B.t kurstaki is a naturally occurring biodegradeable micro-organism used on soft fruit and vegetables in the horticultural industry. With that in mind, I can't see a problem, esp. as it's used on stored combs and not in the hive.

VMD may disagree, but if they went to the trouble, it would just be another un-enforceable regulation on the list.
