How do you know your digital electronic scales are accurate? How do you calibrate them?

I use the calibration function on the scales with a 500gm smart weight. The weight was a bit pricey. Surprisingly the cheap Chinese scales I bought from a company named after a major river in S.America have never been out by more than 0.1 of a gram.
But your point is good, many don't don't go to that level.
