I live in Western N.Y. This is the first time of getting honey. I put up 24 1lb jars and 6 1qt jars. I have not the clue what I should charge. What is the going price a pound.

You would be better off asking locally as this is a UK based forum.

However, here I get £6/lb which equates todays exchange rate as approx $9.80/lb but as Redwood says this is the UK.

There must be a niche market for jars labelled Hemlock Honey = try selling it on ePay

welcome to the forum

I charge £7/lb ($11.25) but I know a guy a few miles from me with a different market can command £10/lb ($16).

Depends on what your market is. If hipsters and hippies, they will pay far more.

Pop into your local wholefoods market store and see what they charge for their premium honeys that should give you some idea of what you could charge for yours.

New York, wow, if you can supply some of those famous deli's stick some fancy labels on your jars and arrange a meeting with the buyers

If anyone needs to stock up Booker and Macro have a 7 day offer from today.... 15x1kg pack of granulated sugar for £6.99 which is about 47p a kg.

Booker have Tate and Lyle and Whitworths. Macro are just advertising Whitworths so not sure if they have T&L as well.

I've just got 30kg T&L from Booker for £13.98.

New York is a state as well as a city. Hence the song "New York, New York".
Hemlock is also a tree species native to North America..

The shop in the desert botanical garden shop in Phoenix was selling at $21.99 for an 8oz jar of desert honey last week

Try a US forum, for example http://www.beesource.com/forums/sho...ing-nucs-on-mini-frames&p=1016434#post1016434 and then look for threads that you fancy. Price will obviously vary according to your locality/state. A lot depends upon how greedy you need to be. The max I ask is £5.20 out of which is taken 12% for overheads and a charity donation. At the door I get a full £5. That's enough for me but others charge a lot more, especially when pro rata'd for smaller/fancy jars where the customer is paying more merely for the extra glass/honey ratio.

I sell at the gate (or rather, chamber pot) @£4/lb which becomes £4.50 in the local shop. This is in keeping with others - we Suffolk folk are stingy with our cash and obviously paupers compared with most other counties. My ling heather honey failed to sell @ £6.

Can't complain about Sheffield. They have been resurfacing main roads, at night. I dont ever remember that happening before. They must have found the EU m,honey pot at last and also hired someone with a brain to oversee the work.
